Are your curves created by your frame or flesh?

Are your curves created by your frame? Or are they created by your flesh? And how can you tell?

It sounds like an absurd question because we don’t normally describe our bodies using terms like “flesh” or “fleshiness.

I’m not sure about you, but when I picture the word “flesh”, I think of meat.

Or this flesh collection that the brand LeMAine came out with – which, ew is all I can use to describe it.

Anyways, when we traditionally talk about curves, this is what we’re typically thinking of.

But the typical “hourglass shape” doesn’t always mean you have Kibbe “curve”.

To determine if you have Kibbe curve and need to accommodate for it, we need to determine if your curve comes from your frame, or your flesh.

Soft Naturals tend to have strong and “traditional curves” – with flesh on top of a larger frame.

The next few photos are going to be verified soft naturals, who all have curves created by frame, rather than flesh.

Scarlett Johansson: a verified Soft Natural

Even though she’s traditionally “curvy”, it’s her bones creating those curves with flesh laying on top – showing that you can be frame dominant and still be curvy.

Kim Kardashian: a verified soft natural

When we think of Kim Kardashian’s curves, we first see a strong bone structure, and then flesh lays on top of that bone structure.

She’s another great example to show how a strong bone structure can, and does exist with curves.

Also, remember that a larger frame is relative to your height. You can be frame dominant and short.

Kim Kardashian is 5’ 2”, and still has a larger frame as a verified soft natural.

To give you an example of how curves can manifest differently on a frame dominant woman vs. a flesh dominant woman, let’s look at a few examples of romantics.

Gina Lollobrigida: a verified romantic

Kibbe curve that comes from flesh is when you’re made of these small, rounded shapes.

Madonna: a verified romantic

Romantics can be curvy, but you won’t see a wide rib cage underneath the bust or in the armpit area. You also won’t see very wide hip bones.

Their frames are delicate and their bust defines their body on the top rather than bones in the upper body/shoulder area.

Their hips are not going to be absurdly wide compared to the rest of their figure either.

Visually, their curves lay on top of a very narrow frame, which forms an “8” shape and gives them that characteristic “soft, rounded, and delicate” look.

In contrast, soft naturals have a visually stronger frame which forms a sort of “X” shape like this.

Their bones look more dense, their ribcages will be more noticeable both in the armpit area as well as below the bust, and their hips will be wider.
