One Tree Hill: a Kibbe Analysis

One Tree Hill did a fantastic job on the wardrobe for Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer.

Neither Hilarie Burton nor Sophia Bush are verified by Kibbe, so this is just my opinion.

Hilarie Burton as Peyton Sawyer was so perfect for the role because I think she’s a dramatic image ID

She is 5’ 7”, which was surprising for me because she looks a lot taller, which is a pretty clear indication of a long vertical line. Her frame is also made of long vertical lines, so I was between Flamboyant Natural, Soft Dramatic, and Dramatic.

Since I don’t see any softness or fleshiness on her silhouette, I can safely remove Soft Dramatic from her list of possible body types.

I also don’t see any width in her upper torso area, which looks far more “H” shaped than "funnel shaped”.

That narrows down her body type to a dramatic.

Seeing her in angular, straight lines further confirms my belief because she looks a lot better in an outfit like this,

or this,

rather than unconstructed lines like this.

In the show, Peyton Sawyer is portrayed as this edgy, kinda dark, angsty character.

Hilarie Burton played that role immaculately - we can really feel her angsty teen vibes throughout a lot of the show.

Her clothing also played a role in it as well. They dressed her in dramatic lines a lot – clothes that were very close to the silhouette – angular, long, sharp lines, and it works so well with her Kibbe image ID.

You can really see how much of a difference dressing for your body type makes if you contrast Hilarie Burton and Sophia Bush.

Sophia Bush plays Brooke Davis, a cutesy, bubbly, “it” girl.

Sophia Bush stands at 5’ 4”, and she has a moderate vertical line. That took out the Dramatic and Soft Dramatic image IDs. She doesn’t have any juxtaposition, so Flamboyant Gamine and Soft Gamine are also out. She also has more bluntness to her bones and an openness to her upper torso area, so we can safely limit her image ID to the Natural types.

Compared to Hilarie Burton, her body is a lot more flesh dominant, which creates a much softer look to her, and I can safely narrow her down to a Soft Natural.

Sophia’s softer image ID along with softer facial features look cohesive with outfits reflecting that.

When you look at her in some more Peyton-esque clothing like this blazer with angular lines,

Or this blazer fit,

it looks a lot less cohesive than when she wears soft natural lines like this.

or this,

that accommodate her width and curve.

Looking at these pictures made me realize it would have been so weird for Sophia Bush to be cast as this angsty, edgy teen.

Brooke Davis’ wardrobe fits so perfectly with her personality in the show because soft naturals look great in softer and undone style lines, which makes her character feel believable.

On the other hand, if you look at Hilarie Burton in more soft natural lines, it feels a lot less cohesive than when she wears dramatic lines.

Hilarie, who I think is a dramatic, fit so seamlessly into her clothes on the show and made all of her edginess believable and relatable.
