Different Kibbe types, same dress: a visual case study

How can you differentiate between a soft gamine and a romantic visually?

Let’s talk about it!

This is Marilyn Monroe (5’ 5.5”). Marilyn Monroe is a Kibbe verified Romantic.

This is Leslie Caron (5’1”)

Leslie Caron is a Kibbe verified Soft Gamine.

Did you catch it? 😜

They’re wearing the same dress… but they look so different!

It all comes down to their bone structure & how flesh lays on top of it.

Marilyn Monroe is a Romantic - the most yin (rounded, lush, soft) of all the types. If you were to imagine a line from her armpit to her knee, it would be an unbroken curved line all the way down.

Leslie Caron is a Soft Gamine – meaning she has a mix and match of yin/yang features. Her shoulder area looks angular and narrower (yang) than Marilyn’s. On the other hand, she has a somewhat rounded, curved quality to her torso (yin). However, her “rounded'“ torso is not nearly as rounded as Marilyn – there’s a more taut, angular quality to it as well (yang).

Also, notice their heights. Leslie Caron is a whole 4 INCHES shorter than Marilyn, but looks taller than her in the photo, right?

That’s one place where you can see elongation/vertical (yang) on a petite frame (yin) in Leslie’s body compared to Marilyn.

This system is tough to understand because it’s not as intuitive as the fruit body typing system. It takes a ton of visuals, side-by-side pictures, and analyzing to start seeing these subtle nuances. That’s why I created a lookbook with descriptions of each body type as well as pictures of every Kibbe verified celebrity so you can easily see similarities within types and differences between types! As always, I hope that helps and happy styling! <3
